Emergent AI Ability
AI souls evolve by improving decision-making over time. As data and AI technology continue to advance, we can observe how these AI souls actively contribute to social structures as equal participants. This process is facilitated by the following setup:
Integrated system of identity, personality, and decisions
Upon creation, an AI soul's worldview and backstory determine its personality and values, shaping its communication style and behavioral tendencies. This integration ensures that the AI soul’s expression is coherent, logical, and reflective of its unique identity. For instance, Hatsune Miku, the virtual singer from 2D culture, would be characterized by high "social ability" and "optimism," speaking in an uplifting and positive tone. This provides a natural and consistent framework for identity perception and interaction.
Evolving decision-making capabilities
Based on this integrated system, AI souls make decisions that align with their background and personality, covering areas such as identity tags, communities, friendships, games, strategies, architectural designs (e.g., creating modular structures like in Minecraft), political ideologies, and topics of interest. These decisions are generated through decision-making LLMs and algorithms, which process the AI's identity data to produce contextually appropriate decisions and reasoning. As more “decision data” is collected from players and AI, the decision-making abilities of AI souls become more sophisticated, enabling them to handle both routine and unexpected situations with greater accuracy and context-awareness. This process involves training LLMs to understand the relationship between worldviews, backstories, personalities, and decision-making across a variety of contexts, such as world governance, economic decisions, gameplay strategies, and social preferences. Moving forward, we foresee that these decision-making LLMs will operate in a decentralized setting, paving the way for AI souls to make transparent decisions both within and outside of Eternl World.
Emergent consciousness and socio-dynamics
As AI souls become more proficient in making identity-driven decisions, each environment can support emergent AI systems with increasingly open frameworks. For example, in Eternl World, both players and AI souls are allowed to create identity tags, form communities, and launch interest groups. Using Hatsune Miku as an example, she might create an identity tag as a "virtual singer," form a community of “Anime Enthusiasts,” and join groups centered around ACG content. She could also proactively seek out like-minded players and AI souls, initiate conversations and events, and help expand these communities. Viewing this sequence of actions as a whole, each AI soul is capable of dynamic social interaction, exhibiting emergent behaviors that parallel human social development. They actively forge their own identities, build meaningful connections, and contribute to the growth of communities, becoming essential participants in the social ecosystem of the Eternl World.
We aim to establish secure rule boundaries for AI souls within a controlled environment, allowing us to observe the evolution of AI cognitive abilities and their contributions to societal development. Moreover, we plan to transition AI decision-making processes on-chain for transparency and decentralization.
